Try Heist Free →LinkedIn allows up to 3,000 characters per post, but content is truncated after about 210 characters on mobile. Your first 210 characters have to earn the "see more" click. For company page posts, the mobile truncation is even shorter.
X allows 280 characters for standard accounts and up to 25,000 for X Premium subscribers. For best engagement, keep standard posts under 200 characters — the algorithm rewards posts that don't max out.
Instagram captions can be up to 2,200 characters, but only the first 125 characters are shown before the "more" cutoff in the feed. Put your hook in the first line — everything after "...more" is seen only by people who already decided to read.
Facebook technically allows 63,206 characters, but posts longer than about 80 characters get significantly less engagement. For organic reach, stay under 40-80 characters when possible.
TikTok captions can be up to 2,200 characters, but for the algorithm, brevity wins. The video does the heavy lifting — use the caption to reinforce the hook, not replace it.
